About Me
I’m a quantitative sociologist and social demographer by training. I received my PhD in Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Population Research Center at the University of Texas at Austin. Before starting Rolling Downhill, I was a research scientist at NORC at the University of Chicago. Visit my personal website at www.michael-a-schultz.com to learn more.
My goal is to bridge the divide between academic research often behind paywalls and written for insider audiences and the practitioner and policymaker space. The purpose of Rolling Downhill is translate this work and contribute a sociological perspective to inform a research agenda in the careers, workforce, and economic mobility space.
I live in Olympia, WA with my family. I enjoy kayaking, reading sci-fi/fantasy, and hiking.
